partition pocheÉdité par Darvas GáborInstrument: Symphonic WorksSérie: EMB Study Scores (pocket scores)Genre: RomanticPages: 176 ppDate du parution: 1984The plan for the three orchestral Nocturnes took a long time to mature: Debussy first alluded to them as ´Three evening scenes´ in a letter dated September 1892. Two years later the work was already referred to as a concerto, which would have been written for the renowned violinist, Ysaye. In the end, however, it was the original idea which meterialised. According to notes on the composer´s manusript the detailed elaboration of the Nocturnes took two years: ´Composé de décembre 1897 á décembre 1899´. Only the first two movements were played at the first performance in Paris on 9th December 1900. The complete work was performed on 27th October 1901. Although the full score appeared in print as early as 1900, Debussy made a number of substantial changes in the orchestration during the years that followed, only the much later, in 1930 published version may be regarded as the final one which forms the basis of the present edition.
Complete scores of three orchestral favorites by vastly influential modern composer. Among the most popular, most recorded, most performed works in the repertoire. Innovation, texture, shimmering impressionism. Reprinted from early French editions. New Contents, Glossary of French musical terms.

This collection of piano duets (for one piano, four hands) includes the most popular repertoire by French composers and is appropriate for intermediate to early advanced pianists. It includes complete editions of Faur´s Dolly Suite, Debussy´s Petite Suite, Ravel´s Mother Goose Suite as well as five pieces from Bizet´s Jeux d´enfants. The primo and secondo parts are on separate pages and essential ornamentation is realized in footnotes. Both parts contain measure numbers for easy reference.
This book is Schoenberg´s last completed theoretical work and represents his final thoughts on the subject of classical and romantic harmony. The earlier chapters recapitulate in condensed form the principles laid down in his Theory of Harmony; the later chapters break entirely new ground, for they analyze the system of key relationships within the structure of whole movements and affirm the principle of monotonality, showing how all modulations within a movement are merely deviations from, and not negations of, its main tonality.Schoenberg´s argument is supported by music examples, which range from entire development sections of classical symphonies to analyses of the experimental harmonic progressions of Strauss, Debussy, Reger, and Schoenberg´s own early music. The final chapter, Apollonian Evaluation of a Dionysian Epoch, discusses the music of our time, with particular reference to the possibility of new methods of harmonic analysis.Structural Functions of Harmony is a standard work on its subject and provides an invaluable key to the development of musical structure during the last two hundred and fifty years. This new edition, with corrections, a new preface, and an index of subject headings, has been prepared under the editorial supervision of Leonard Stein.
